Under The Microscope


This is a blog dedicated to sharing and compiling many different images from under the microscope. From living to non-living, we can appreciate the invention of the microscope that has allowed us to see the into world of the very small.

Cryo-SEM image of rapid frozen Barley leaf (Hordeum vulgare) - with Trichomes (hair like structure) and stomata pores on the epidermal surface. Very fine wax crystallites are also visible on the surface of the leaf and in red fungal mildew spores with sprouting fresh infectious tube.
